South Padre Island Vacation Rental Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat if we arrive after the office closes, how do we get our keys? Check in is at 3 p.m., but sometimes we can get you in earlier - you will have to call first to find out. If you are arriving late, we ask that you give us a call with the approximate time of arrival - just so we know you are on the way. If you arrive after we close, we will leave an envelope in the large mailbox outside our office with your keys, instructions to your rental and instructions to return to the office the next day to settle up your account. During Spring Break or Easter Week, we do require check-in at the office. We close usually at 5 p.m. If you plan to arrive after we close, you MUST call us and make arrangements to checkin. Can you get around the island without having a car? The island is not that big, but most people prefer to have transportation. You can rent bicycles on the island or take The Wave - this is South Padre's free transportation on the island and to/from Port Isabel. Click here for a printable brochure and schedule. Do you provide Travel Insurance? Yes, we do. You can choose to have it as you check out. We offer optional Travel Insurance through CSA that will insure reimbursement of your money due to emergency cancellation, death, or hurricane evacuation. If you wish to purchase the Travel Insurance then it is due with the advance payment and can not be purchased within 45 days of arrival. After purchasing the insurance you do have 10 days to change your mind as long as it is more than 45 days to arrival, after that the insurance is paid and is non-refundable. If you are making reservation with-in 45 days of arrival the insurance premium is due with your initial pre-payment and is not refundable. A summary of plan coverages is available. Is my money refunded if there is a hurricane? We are not responsible for the weather. If the weather was inclement, you would not get refunded either. We suggest purchasing vacation insurance. When is hurricane season? Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30. However, with that said, we are usually very lucky when it comes to bad storms and hurricanes on the island. South Padre Emergency Management is a great website for information about hurricanes on the island. Can I use the condominium/house for weddings, family reunion, etc.? The accommodations your renting and it's facilities are for the use of registered guests ONLY and cannot be used for parties, dinners, family reunions or other gatherings that would exeed the occupancy limits. Is South Padre Island next to Corpus Christi? No, that would be North Padre Island (or Padre Island), but the beaches on South Padre Island are by far the best. This is where you want to be.
If something is broken or not working in my unit, what do I do? Call our office and let us know. We will fix whatever the problem is as soon as possible. Also, if you see something is broken, we recommend you tell us as soon as possible so you are not held responsible. Is there free parking? Usually there is parking space enough for at least two cars at the houses, but usually more. The condos are another thing. Some of the complexes only have enough room for one vehicle per condo. Some allow you to park one vehicle behind the other one. Trailers and boats cannot usually be parked at condos. Can I bring my pet? At some of our condos/homes, "yes" you can. Some of the complexes have weight limits, please check with the office. Is there a grocery store on the island? Yes, the Blue Marlin is on the island. It is a small grocery store with just about anything you would need. Usually has good meat selections. It is on Padre Blvd. at Dolphin. I prefer shopping at HEB in Port Isabel - more variety, fresher produce and better prices. WalMart is also an option with bulk purchases. How do I find out about all the different things to do on the island? You can look on our website for that type of information, call us and we will be glad to find out anything you might have a question about and send you the information or contract the Chamber of Commerce or visit the Visitors' Center when you get on the island. The Visitors' Center will also have valuable coupons.
